New Nightclubs in Shanghai are opening up every month here. The vibrant club scene has something for all tastes. The Techno scene is well represented here as well as house music, hip hop and also the blues. International DJs usually make guest appearances at a number of the hip clubs in town. Many clubs would have a salsa or Latino night, while other clubs would emphasise an eighties music night to entertain the locals and the many tourists that want to let off a bit of steam. The competition between the clubs is usually fierce and many clubs fall out of favour and close down due to the high standards required by the fickle clubbing set. The Velvet Underground is very popular, as well as the Rojam Disco, the Babylon nightclub and the Real Love Discotheque. Many clubs in town would stage some great live music. Blues and Jazz can be heard at the Cotton Club, which is the most popular blues bar in all of Shanghai city. The Hot Chocolate Club on the Dong Ping Road offers some live jazz music. Local bands would play anything from rock to pop, to even jazz at the M- Box Nightclub or at the Full House Club. |
